Brussels Airlines is the leading Belgian airline flying out of the Capital of Europe. With flights to some 50 European destinations, as well as 18 African destinations, the airline offers an excellent network for travel to, from and via Brussels.

In addition to a dedicated Business Class, Brussels Airlines offers two economy class fares on its European network – b.flex economy+ and b.light economy. Passengers travelling on long-haul flights to Africa can choose between Business class or Economy class.

Already offering flights to 14 destinations in Africa – Abidjan, Banjul, Bujumbura, Conakry, Dakar, Douala, Entebbe, Freetown, Kigali, Kinshasa, Luanda, Monrovia, Nairobi and Yaounde – Brussels Airlines will add 4 new destinations to its network in July: Accra, Cotonou, Lome, and Ouagadougou. Together with its partner Lufthansa, Brussels Airlines will then offer nearly 30 destinations in Africa.

Smooth, Seamless Transfer via Brussels

When you choose to fly with Brussels Airlines, you are guaranteed exceptional ease and comfort on the ground at Brussels Airport. Transferring from one flight to another is convenient and easy thanks to clear multilingual signs around the terminals. At the airport, travellers have access to a wide range of shops with tax-free merchandise. In a zone dedicated to Africa-bound flights, travellers can access a service desk, a well-equipped children’s corner offering interactive games and movies, a relaxation corner with magazines and comfortable seating, as well as several outlets that sell refreshment and snacks. Business class passengers have access to the Sunrise Lounge, ranked among the world’s top 50 airport lounges.

On Board

Travellers flying to African destinations with Brussels Airlines are given some of the most generous baggage allowances in the industry – passengers in Economy are allowed 46kg, and those in Business are allowed 64kg. Brussels Airlines is also the only European carrier that allows travellers to fly directly from Europe to Kigali, Bujumbura and Monrovia on the African continent.

To link its African destinations and Brussels, Brussels Airlines has a fleet of Airbus A330s – a long-haul aircraft that boasts a modern design, maximum space and top entertainment possibilities. In Economy class, LCD screens are distributed throughout the cabin, and new ergonomic seats offer more legroom. In Business class, the seats offer massage functions and can easily be converted into comfortable beds. In addition to a personal LCD screen, each business traveller also has access to a laptop connection and a personal storage unit.

Travelling with Children

Travellers who are flying as a family can rest assured that everybody is well-provided for with Brussels Airlines. Apart from child-friendly meals that can be ordered when booking your flights, there are movies and games on board to keep your children occupied and entertained. And if you have a child between the ages of 5-12 who is travelling alone, trained Brussels Airlines crew members will ensure that the child is accompanied from the beginning of the journey to the moment their friends or family meet them on arrival.

Flying from the UK to Africa, via Brussels

Brussels Airlines offers travellers the possibility to connect to Africa (via Brussels) from 8 UK destinations – London Heathrow, Newcastle, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds and East Midlands. Both London Heathrow and Manchester offer 4 return flights daily to Brussels, while Newcastle and Bristol both offer 3 return flights daily. Those connecting from Birmingham have the choice of 5 return flights daily to the Capital of Europe. Travellers can also connect from Edinburgh, Leeds and East Midlands to the Capital of Europe in a codeshare with bmi.

The first flights from the various UK destinations allow travellers to arrive in Brussels in a timely manner for nearly all Brussels Airlines and codeshare connections to destinations in Africa. Travellers can be assured of a smooth transfer when they fly with Brussels Airlines via Brussels.
