Potential strike action at BA announced 14th December 2009

14 December 2009 12:01

We are aware that Unite, the trade union that represents British Airways’ (BA) cabin crew, has today, 14 December 2009, announced that its strike ballot has closed with a vote in favour of industrial action on 22 December 2009.

BA have informed us that the potential strike will affect flights from 22 December 2009 through to and including 2 January 2010.

Their policy is currently evolving but at present anyone with a ticket on BA which is due to travel between the above dates and 48 hours either side are able to change their dates (but not their route) to any other available date in the next 12 months.

BA have not as yet cancelled any flights but should they need to they are likely to offer a full refund. We await their full policy regarding cancellation.

Key Travel staff are already contacting by telephone all our clients who have tickets affected by this proposed strike action to discuss their options, we anticipate all clients will have been communicated to by midday Tuesday 15 December.

Until BA update their policy further anyone wishing to cancel tickets issued on BA will do so at full advertised cancellation fees and anyone wishing to change their BA flights that fall outside of the date ranges specified above also do so at the full advertised amendment fee rates.
