Congratulations to the two Key Travel teams who took part in the Oxfam Emergency Challenge, finishing in 2nd and 7th place! The two Key Travel teams, the Green team and Blue team, were put through their paces over the course of the day, facing a number of physical and mental challenges. As well as running 10k and cycling 20k, the teams had to test their engineering skills, gather funds, distribute supplies and put their plan into action to provide a long term solution to the simulated crisis.
Both teams excelled at the construction challenge, building contraptions to lift buckets of water from a well and scored strongly in the next challenge, which saw them negotiating and building alliances with other teams to put together care packages. Overall, out of the 16 teams that took part, the Green team finished in 2nd place, a fantastic achievement, with the Blue team finishing in 7th place and gaining a medal for 'most improved team' having been in last place after the first round! The Key Travel teams also received a commendation for sportsmanship and their cheerful approach to tasks throughout the day.
Sarah Lodge, charity reservations agent who was in the Green team commented "What a day! Oxfam tested all parts of our bodies and brains against time and endurance, using communication, listening, engineering and physical skills. I'm so pleased to have been part of it and then to finished in 2nd place. An experience I won't forget and a small insight into their work in the realities of disaster zones..."
The team raised over £4000 for Oxfam.
