London, 1st July 2020 - Key Travel, the international TMC, specialising in faith, humanitarian and academic travel, has announced today a new partnership with San Francisco-based, crowd-funded NGO, Cool Effect.

Global environmental experts, Cool Effect, specialise in providing carbon offsetting and work with some of the world’s largest organisations who are looking to offset greenhouse gases (GHGs).

Cool Effect’s high-quality carbon offset credits* will be available to Key Travel’s customers via KT Online (Key Travel’s proprietary online booking tool) from the end of 2020. Key Travel’s customers will have the option at point of sale to offset their travel, contributing to global initiatives that support conservation, clean energy and efficient production.

Key Travel is also publicly committing to being carbon neutral by 2025 and is working with Cool Effect as one key initiative to achieving that goal.

Saad Hammad, Key Travel’s CEO said: “Our partnership with Cool Effect will allow our customers to offset the carbon emissions from their travel and contribute to projects that make a real difference.

“Every time a trip is purchased, the carbon footprint can be measured, and offsetting action taken to minimise the adverse impact on our planet. The solution to climate change is not necessarily to stop travelling, but to travel responsibly and carbon offsetting is a step forward for those whose travel is essential. We serve customers who travel to help communities in need across the globe and they often need to be on the ground to make a difference.”

Cool Effect’s Director of Marketing and Partnerships, Jodi Manning, added: “As a fellow mission-driven organization, we are so encouraged to work with Key Travel to support its continued vision to create a better world by making an already commendable service more sustainable.

“At Cool Effect, we are committed to supporting businesses dedicated to the future of our planet, and forming a long-term partnership was a natural step. Together we will enable thousands of Key Travel’s customers to offset emissions and ensure the reductions are achieved in a positive economic and social manner.”

Both parties have committed to working on a wider range of sustainability campaigns together.

This partnership follows Key Travel being recently identified by leading industry media, TTG, Travel Weekly and Business Travel News, as a world leader in the field of humanitarian travel**.

Notes

*For example, in 2019, one of Cool Effect’s projects was to limit deforestation in Myanmar. Carbon credits from a wide range of credit purchasers were used to fund the planting of 10 million mangrove trees, which will offset 4 million tonnes of carbon once the planting is complete.

** Key Travel has recently been ranked as 16th in the Leading 50 TMC list by BTN Europe, as 2nd in Business Travel as part of the Top 50 Travel agencies by TTG Media, and 27th of the 2020 Top 50 US Power List by Travel Weekly for increased sales.
