Eye care specialists, VOSH, have teamed up with humanitarian travel specialists Key Travel.

Key Travel will identify and book flights for thousands of volunteer optometrists who travel the planet to provide VOSH’s free eye care service.

VOSH is a non-profit organisation that brings free eye care from licensed eye care professionals to those in need.

Every year, VOSH helps to address the eye care challenges of the 1.1 billion* people worldwide who have no access to glasses. Uncorrected sight heavily impacts on an individual’s education, relationships and career.

Key Travel’s service will include simplified trip planning and booking for VOSH’s trip leaders, market leading duty of care and 24/7 support, globally.

In addition, Key Travel’s specialist humanitarian air fares will be used to support VOSH volunteers establishing new schools of optometry in Nicaragua, Haiti, Vietnam, West Africa – delivering the best price, with extra benefits such as additional baggage.

Flexibility is key for VOSH travellers as they return to established clinics in Mexico, Nepal, Kenya, South America and the Caribbean.

Michael Ciszeck, Vice President of VOSH said “Key Travel’s customer base means they understand the importance of getting humanitarian workers out to provide aid quickly while keeping costs down.

“In 2018 we had 101 clinics with an average of 25 volunteers working in each one, so it is important that getting our volunteers out there goes smoothly.”

Lisa Akeroyd, Key Travel’s Chief Commercial Officer, added: “We are delighted to work with VOSH. The work they do is important, dispensing glasses and medications to anyone who needs them.

“We are proud to partner with VOSH to provide the travel services that ensures skilled eye care specialists can access worldwide locations in an economic and timely manner.”
